VIETLOTT AWARDS THE LARGEST LOTTERY PRIZE IN VIETNAM'S HISTORY

On April 23rd, 2024, in Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. H. and Mr. H.L. from Ho Chi Minh City jointly received the Jackpot 1 prize for the Power 6/55 self-selected lottery, draw #01020, worth over 314 billion VND. This is the largest prize in the history of Vietlott specifically and in Vietnam in general.

On April 23rd, 2024, the Ho Chi Minh City branch (under the Vietnam Lottery Company - Vietlott) conducted the awarding of the Jackpot 1 prize for the Power 6/55 self-selected lottery, draw #1020, to Mr. H. and Mr. H.L. The total prize value exceeded 314 billion VND. This is the largest lottery prize ever awarded by Vietlott specifically and in Vietnam in general.

 

Mr. H. and Mr. H.L. jointly received the Jackpot 1 prize with a total prize value of over 314 billion VND.

 

Before that, in draw #1020 of the Power 6/55 self-selected lottery product, Vietlott determined that there were 02 winners of Jackpot 1 with a total prize value of 314,186,714,850 VND. Through verification on the self-selected lottery business data system and accompanying personal records, Vietlott identified the 02 winning players: 

  • Mr. H. purchased his ticket at Point of Sale #14 on Xô Viết Nghệ Tĩnh Street, Ward 19, Binh Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City. He bought multiple sets of numbers, resulting in a total prize value of 159,607,357,425 VND.
  • Mr. H.L. obtained his ticket at Point of Sale #10 on Phạm Đình Hổ Street, Ward 1, District 6, Ho Chi Minh City, with a prize value of 157,093,357,425 VND.

 

Mr. H. owns a small grocery store in Ho Chi Minh City. He has been regularly playing Vietlott's self-selected lottery products since 2017. Mr. H. personally selects his lucky numbers. He shared, "Around 7:10 PM, after finishing my sales, I sat down to relax and check the numbers. When I saw that my ticket had won, I was very happy and immediately called my family and friends to share the news." Mr. H. plans to allocate about 30% of the prize money to take care of his siblings and family. Additionally, he intends to invest in business expansion and engage in charitable activities.

 

Mr. H.L. works as a delivery person in Ho Chi Minh City. He spends around 50,000 Vietnamese dong each day to buy lottery tickets in hopes of winning. He usually buys them from a familiar point of sale. Mr. H.L. shared, "That day, after buying the ticket, I put it in my wallet and didn't pay much attention to the results. Since it's a familiar point of sale, they have my phone number."

 

A day or two later, the point of sale called him to inform him that Vietlott had notified him that a ticket sold at their location had won the Jackpot 1 prize. So, he checked the ticket he purchased to see if it had won. To his astonishment, upon checking the ticket, he realized that he had won such a significant Jackpot prize. He was surprised. He stated that he would use this money to buy a house and invest in business ventures.

 

At the award ceremony, in line with the social responsibility spirit of Vietlott players, Mr. H. and Mr. H.L. donated 2 billion Vietnamese dong to the Tâm Tài Việt Social Fund and 500 million VND to the Academy of Traditional Vietnamese Theatre (Học viện cải lương).

Under regulations, Mr. H. and Mr. H.L. have the obligation to pay personal income tax at the place where the tickets were issued, which is Ho Chi Minh City. They will be taxed on the total prize value of over 31.6 billion Vietnamese dong (10% of the portion exceeding 10 million dong) and will be deducted immediately upon receiving the prize.
