Tam Tai Viet Foundation and Vietlott Award 600 Million VND in Scholarships to Nam Can Tho University Students

On August 20, 2024, Nam Can Tho University and the Tam Tai Viet Foundation signed a Memorandum of Cooperation to provide 600 million VND in scholarships for disadvantaged students at Nam Can Tho University. The scholarships will be distributed over three years, with each eligible student receiving up to VND 20 million per year from the Tam Tai Viet Foundation.

On the afternoon of August 20, Nam Can Tho University and the Tam Tai Viet Foundation, signed a Memorandum of Cooperation to sponsor scholarships for three years (2024-2026). Under the agreement, the two parties will jointly implement the program "Giving Opportunities, Fulfilling Dreams" to award scholarships to students at Nam Can Tho University, totaling 600 million VND, distributed evenly over three years. Each student may receive a maximum scholarship of 20 million VND per year (up to 10 million VND per semester). Nam Can Tho University is one of seven universities nationwide to receive scholarships from the Tam Tai Viet Foundation and Vietlott, with a total value of 4.2 billion VND.

Students who meet the general requirements of good conduct (with a conduct rating of good or higher) and have not been subject to disciplinary action at the time of scholarship consideration are eligible to apply for the scholarship.

To qualify for the scholarship in their first year, students must meet one of the following conditions: The student is from an ethnic minority in an area with particularly difficult socio-economic conditions as defined by the Prime Minister and the Committee for Ethnic Minorities ; The student has a disability, as determined by a competent Medical Assessment Council, resulting in a loss of 41% or more of their labor capacity ; The student is economically disadvantaged, from a poor household, and has overcome difficulties to pursue their studies.

For students receiving the scholarship from their second year onward, the following conditions apply: Ethnic minority students and students with disabilities (as defined above) must have achieved a minimum GPA of 6.5 (on a 10-point scale) or 2.3 (on a 4-point scale) in the previous academic year ; Economically disadvantaged students must have achieved a minimum GPA of 7.0 (on a 10-point scale) or 2.5 (on a 4-point scale) in the previous academic year.

In addition, Vietlott will facilitate opportunities for Nam Can Tho University students to visit and learn about the company’s business model and organizational structure. The university may also recommend academically successful students for employment or internship opportunities at Vietlott.
